Far too often, we become aware of the present only as it becomes the past. In the final analysis our value will not be determined by the size of our , zip code, credit score, the toys we accumulate, or the amount of money tucked away in our savings account. It will simply come down to our life experiences, expressed in how we lived and how much we loved. There is but one currency in life. Its value will be determined by the number of lives that we have impacted in a positive way. There are many people who have helped me navigate life. Those unknown champions helped me walk on life’s stormy seas. A Different Kind of Champion is dedicated to those individuals who may never be remembered or recognized. They are seldom conscious of their extra-ordinary acts or behaviors. Marian Webster defines the word champion as someone who has won a contest or competition especially in sports: Someone who fights or speaks publicly in support of a person, belief, cause, etc. My definition is a bit simpler; I believe that a champion is one who gives rise to the voice of others. These champions are perhaps easier to admire than to define. They simply do the right thing at the right time and have a tendency to think of others before they think of themselves.
